Canto de Mudo only performed once (well, in fact two times on the same day) in 2019 in Gent, Belgium. The recordings we made then (and the friendships) have not let go of me until today.
The unusual combination we made of Brian Eno's music and Lhasa de Sela's music (which turned out to work well), made me realize even more that music really is one world, or rather: one endless sea, one interconnected system with tons of beauty and inexhaustible inspiration.
This track is – again - musically indebted to Brian Eno's 'Spider and I' (1977). Connoisseurs might recognize the waltz rhythm and parts of the chord sequence.
This time we added guitars, and words inspired by (and honoring) Lhasa, who died way too young, age 37, on New Year's day 2010. Listen to her astral soul, watch her perform. This is a song about having to say goodbye – sometimes there's no other way. It's like the night for those left behind, and yet: there will always be the healing light of another bold new dawn. La luz qe todo lo cura.
