Both words and music were inspired by the 4th of the Rückert-Lieder, composed by Gustav Mahler in 1901 and based on poems by Friedrich Rückert.
The song is called 'Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen’, and deals with the isolation of the artist in this mad world. The fact that I identify strongly with this poem, may not surprise you. I used a few lines and notes, to make up my own version.
Ithaka is a Greek island and the home of Odysseus, known from Homer's epic tale Odyssey. Well, the road back home is a long one for all of us...
This track was first recorded in 2006, and finally mixed for this album.
