The 80s have never been rosy times economically. We eventually did graduate but there was little work. We had big dreams, but little money and often felt like we were some kind of 'New Poor'.
This track owes a lot to the 'Music For A New Society' album by John Cale (1982), which has also a lot of pain and regret involved, and in the end - for those who want to see - some bleak promise of a better world.
